Edwige Roussel keeps an eye on Chantecôtes vineyards

   27-05-2009

Edwige Roussel arrived in Cecilia cellar in August 2008. Since then, she’s been watching carefully over the vine grapes of the different cooperative winegrowers, and gives counsels and advices as the upstream quality, security and environment responsible of Cecilia wine cellar. After her advanced vocational diploma in wine growing and oenology, she went to Dijon University (Master in sciences of the vine) before being accepted in the Agricultural Engineer School still in Dijon. After her graduation, she did much internship in Bordeaux, Burgundy and Loire Valley areas before her arrival in Sainte-Cécile-Les-Vignes. My job says Edwige is to sustain the work of Cecilia’s wine growers upstream, through parcel selections, to exploit at its best the potential of this beautiful soil. Edwige has started her tour in the vineyards with the winegrowers in that sense. “I’m also an intermediary for them and give all the information I can glean in the different organisms like the Chamber of Agriculture”. With always in mind that search of quality, which is a real added value for Cecilia-Chantecôtes.

A partnership with Hunawihr Wine Cellar in Alsace region

   01-02-2009

Winegrowers of Cecilia-Chantecôtes have decided to establish a special partnership with their Alsatian colleagues from Hunawihr wine cellar, in the High-Rhine region. Also that connection might seem surprising; it came from the common will of the directors of both cellars to offer to their clientele, a broader range of wines, with an opening on wines from other regions, than their own doesn’t produce. Hunawihr cellar, manufactures fine Alsatian wines, a group of 110 winegrowers who produce 2 millions of bottle per year; the wine cellar offers high quality white wines. Its director, Dominique Soller, met his counterpart in Cecilia during his visit, Alain Kaneko, and the marketing director, André Gillot. Without forgetting Daniel Beaumet, the owner of Chantecôtes cellar, the two copresidents, François Pouizin et Denis Guthmuller, this last one being part of this partnership with Alsace, being himself originally from this region. « It’s a very beautiful cellar » he declares, sharing the same philosophy than Cécilia-Chantecôtes: always searching for a higher quality level.

Gael, Fabien and Philippe, are the three pillars of Cecilia wine cellar. Along the year, they deal with any problem that comes their way, whether mechanic or electric, to make sure that the wines aging in tanks don’t suffer. They double their alertness during the harvest: the receiving dock gets inspected because it wasn’t used for a whole year, and everything must work perfectly on the D Day; the grapes reception throughout a whole month at a furious pace; cleaning of the facilities once the harvest ended. Hats off for all that great work!
